RAID 1 mirror disk failure detectionview story

http://serverfault.com – In the BIOS of an ASUS motherboard I've set up a RAID 1 mirror out of two hard drives. All is working fine at present. I have two OS installed on the machine: Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7. My question is a general one: In case of a failure of one of the two hard drives composing the mirror, will I be somehow notified by the system or should I check it myself constantly? (HowTos)

I have it as a temporary notebook, because my old one died and I had to get a cheap replacement for basic stuff. However, when I open browser + IM + mail client, it all gets quite slow and laggy, the whole desktop environment. Not to mention videos... (Hardware)

Disable detection of certain hardware?view story

http://unix.stackexchange.com – I have a computer with two PCI TV cards. One is Compro (Win friendly), another is Leadtek (Linux friendly). Now, i'm trying to optimize my Ubuntu boot process and i would like to disable detection of my Compro card because it's not working on Linux, it won't work and even if it does, i don't care. Sometimes, i'm using...alterative...OS so removing Compro card from case is not an option. (HowTos)
