[all variants] 11.10 install fails, new i3 and i5 (sandybridge) systemsview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – I am having the same problem on two systems. Once I get to the disk partition screen it doesn't see the hard drive to install onto. If I go into cfdisk it shows the disk fine and lets me partition them, but then the partitions aren't shown during install. The partition buttons are all greyed out (create, delete, etc). (Hardware)

Can Linux support a "Ralink corp. RT2800 802.11n PCI" (maybe a RT2860STA?) in an Asus EEE 901 netbook [migrated]view story

http://serverfault.com – OK, I know that this isn't going to be straightforward, but I'd really like to get it working. About 18-24 months ago, my Asus EEE 901 netbook was working fine - running Ubuntu - and I let it 'upgrade' as the update manager suggested. The wi-fi subsequently failed - and, while busy with other things, fiddled and 'hosed' the OS install. The netbook stayed in a cupboard until this weekend... (HowTos)

[ubuntu] GNOME3/Unity unexpectedly logout when opening image in eog (Image Viewer)view story

http://ubuntuforums.org – This is really strange. I had just downloaded an image file. Just double clicked the file to open in 'eog', and the system suddenly logout my current gnome 3 session to LightDM screen. I logged in again and navigated in nautilus, double-clicked it (It loads in eog for 2 seconds upto 98% just when logout occurs) only to see another logout. What can be the problem. (Hardware)

[lubuntu] ALC892 has no soundview story

http://ubuntuforums.org – Installing lubuntu-11.10-alternate-amd64.iso on AMD A4-3400 on ASUS F1a75-V PRO (alternate used to setup full disk encryption, works very well thanks!) the sound from ALC892 simply doesn't work, though alsamixer etc shows it's there. So I tried some live USB sticks to test the connections etc: linuxmint-201109-xfce-dvd-64bit.iso sound works fine instantly (can't use Mint because no FDE) xubuntu-1 (Hardware)
