Automounting pendriveview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Two comments.First, many USB pen drives, thumb drives, whatever, are not partitioned.  It is possible to use the entire drive rather than partitioning it.  More so, that is the norm.  When the entire drive is used, it is mounted as /dev/sdx, not /dev/sdx1.  I am not sure I believe the output of parted in this case.  What does fdisk say?Second, Regarding Gcool's sugges (HowTos)

Problems with udev, filesystem, kmod after big upgradeview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I attempted to upgrade my system today after having not done a full update in a while (I live in a developing country and bandwidth is limited), and it seems I've managed to bork my installation pretty good. I got a bunch of strange messages during the upgrade, and right afterwards, my machine hard froze when I tried to open another program (GIMP). (HowTos)

problems with grub2view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – runny6play wrote:the.ridikulus.rat wrote:What is the grub2 version you see when you boot the system. Can you try Arch's extra/grub2-bios pkg? This might be due to grub2 not properly loading initramfs image into the memory and/or informing the kernel  about its memory location so that the kernel can mount it and boot from it.I screwed up grub so I can't tell you... First boot fails - Filesystem type unknown, partition type 0x7view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Admit it. You DID NOT try the sdc3 partition's UUID. You just assumed that since there's no "vmlinuz-linux" file on it, it won't work.Because the way I see it:1. MBR says to check the menu.lst2. (HowTos)

wlan wep encryption is failing after system update (pacman -Syu)view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Wep and ath9k has been buggy for me for a long time now - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Never got around it, adding "options ath9k nohwcrypt=1" into /etc/modprobe.d/ath9k.conf seemed to work for some time. You could give it a try. The network I have problems with is at the university, they use wep + vpn to connect. (HowTos)

Arch as VMware guest- installing vmware toolsview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Hi there,I've installed Arch Linux as a guest, and have followed the guide pretty well. I however came across a problem where I'm not able to start Unity even though I've successfully installed open-vm-tools and modules. It tells me that vmware tools isn't installed and that it can't change the resolution. (HowTos)
