read only rootfsview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – falconindy, Sorry to have given the impression that this is an ARM oriented effort. My objective is to deploy read only rootfs on archlinux, regardless of architecture.kaos, that link is really the kind of info I'm missing. Can you offer something like sequential instructions for how to use the initcpio hook, and then what changes need to modify the boot sequence? (HowTos)

System hang when using networkmanagerview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I've recently switched from Ubuntu to Arch on the recommendation of a friend.  I'm happy with most things, but cannot seem to get networkmanager to cooperate.  It works fine on my home network (WPA2), but causes the entire system to hang whenever I attempt to connect to my university's unencrypted public wifi.  The entire system becomes unresponsive (cannot open/close (HowTos)

[SOLVED] Screen tearing - Openboxview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Gusar wrote:@PReP, no matter how much you play with those settings, you won't get rid of tearing. xrender simply doesn't provide vsync. An opengl compositor is the only way. But there is no simple, standalone opengl compositor. There's just Compiz, Kwin and Mutter, which are combined compositor/window manager. (HowTos)

The panel still loads but doesn't display my desktops correctly (only shows 1, i have 2). How can i find out why this might have happened? (HowTos)

Grub Error 17 After Installationview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Originally, I had sdb1 at /home/flashdrive, sdb2 at /, and sdb3 was swap.  I put the FAT32 partition first because otherwise Windows won't recognize it as far as I can tell.  Installing /boot on sdb1 would, as far as I know, not allow me to access any other partitions besides that on Windows (unless someone knows another way).  Regardless, I just tried installing a 20mb /boot p (HowTos)
