[solved] OpenChrome/UniChrome, X failing and softpipe/llvmpipeview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Oh I hope they get ported. Unichrome might be one of the first since Luc Verhagen - the mesa developer most opposed to the dropping of DRI1 - was also the developer of unichrome-dri. However, I wouldn't hold your breath. The comparatively simple task of porting XAA -> EXA is receiving little interest. (HowTos)

Two Video Cards in Console?view story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Hi,  I apologize if this may be kind of a dumb question;  I have two video cards; an ATI and an NVIDIA card;  My question is fairly basic; X11 aside, should I be able to plug both video cards in and get the 'console' to display by default out of both cards?  Do I have to do anything special to setup the second card for console (i.e non-X)?  I know the OS is detec (HowTos)

System hangs under Xview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – Downgrading to an older kernel version is sometimes enough to avoid these problems, but I would guess that they are caused by a buggy video driver. What xf86-video driver are you using? What is in ~/.xsession-errors (or a file that you send startx output to)? start screen session as different userview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – This is driving me nuts. I run an opensim server on system, and currently have a watchdog script used to check that the server is running and either run it or re-start it as necessary (in the event of a server crash). The server itself is run in a gnu screen session so that I can log in to the server remotely via ssh. At the moment I run my watchdog at login, which is not ideal. (HowTos)

MTRR allocation problem on Dell Vostroview story

https://bbs.archlinux.org – I dunno about ATI, but with Nvidia I did some experimentation, e.g.:echo "disable=4" >| /proc/mtrr echo "base=0x0 size=0x100000000 type=write-back" >| /proc/mtrr echo "base=0x100000000 size=0x40000000 type=write-back" >| /proc/mtrrIt didn't actually help, as in show any speedup that I could determine.
