All mute after upgrading ALSAview story

http://www.linuxquestions.org – I didn't (maybe still don't) have ALSA loopback so I could record streaming, so I upgraded ALSA following these instructions: http://alsa.opensrc.org/index.php/Ja...loop_if_needed The only part I didn't follow verbatim was the final step: Quote: Allrighty, time to load it. But before that, shut down all audio apps (including firefox). (HowTos)

Problems with DVD Playbackview story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – Though this problem is limited to a very select few DVD's, I'm getting some error messages. I've installed libdvd* files, and codecs, and many things, but I'm still having trouble with a couple of DVD's that work in Windows right upon insert. At first I thought it was an issue with the region, but I can't see this doing it for only one platform. (HowTos)

Lesser known Apps.view story

http://crunchbanglinux.org – I've been on the hunt recently for applications that do "just the right amount" of things or are just plain neat. What I mean is applications that don't necessarily try to be everything to everyone. I know depending on the person and that persons needs these things vary greatly. (HowTos)

11.3 Gnome Xine DVD "audio device unavailable"view story

http://forums.opensuse.org – Recently I've upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3, but DVD will not play with Xine anymore. It will start the DVD up to the menu, but when I select play Xine stops and states that my audio device is busy. This is however not the case, because I'm only running Xine and sound works up into the menu of the DVD. I have Xine configured to work with Alsa, since that is the only way to get 5.1 sound.
