http://forums.fedoraforum.org – In my simple quest to enable the playing of MP3's on my Fedora 12 installation, I arrived at the suggestion that I need to add some third party repositories for yum. Namely, rpmfusion. After installing this repo, here is the state of my system: Code: [root@localhost ~]# yum repolist all Loaded plugins: presto, priorities, refresh-packagekit repo id                                    repo name              status fedora                                      Fedora 12 - i386        enabled: 15,366 fedora-debuginfo                            Fedora 12 - i386 - Debu disabled fedora-source                              Fedora 12 - Source      disabled rawhide                                    Fedora - Rawhide - Deve disabled rawhide-debuginfo                          Fedora - Rawhide - Debu disabled rawhide-source                              Fedora - Rawhide - Sour disabled rpmfusion-free                              RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 enabled:    383 rpmfusion-free-debuginfo                    RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-rawhide                      RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-free-rawhide-debuginfo            RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-free-rawhide-source              RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-free-source                      RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-updates                      RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 enabled:    248 rpmfusion-free-updates-debuginfo            RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-updates-source              RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-updates-testing              RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-updates-testing-debuginfo    RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-free-updates-testing-source      RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree                          RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 enabled:    124 rpmfusion-nonfree-debuginfo                RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide                  RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide-debuginfo        RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-rawhide-source            RPM Fusion for Fedora R disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-source                    RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-updates                  RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 enabled:    120 rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-debuginfo        RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-source            RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing          RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing-debuginfo RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-updates-testing-source    RPM Fusion for Fedora 1 disabled updates                                    Fedora 12 - i386 - Upda enabled:  3,427 updates-debuginfo                          Fedora 12 - i386 - Upda disabled updates-source                              Fedora 12 - Updates Sou disabled updates-testing                            Fedora 12 - i386 - Test disabled updates-testing-debuginfo                  Fedora 12 - i386 - Test disabled updates-testing-source                      Fedora 12 - Test Update disabled repolist: 19,668 I am looking for advice on the best way (and how to...) to configure yum priorities so that this repository does not accidentally overwrite any trusted packages. I have installed yum-priorities but have not modified any settings myself so I am not sure what it is going to do by default ... Any general advice on whether this is a good idea or not, or a better way to do this would be much appreciated. I generally want to avoid using any third party repositories if possible, but ultimately I will need to play mp3's! Thanks (HowTos)
