http://forums.fedoraforum.org – hi guys....im a novice in fedora....ive just started using F10 a few months back....and now i'm facing a problem with yum....the command yum install <pkg> hangs in the middle of operation...for example i tried running [root@localhost ~]# yum install gcc Loaded plugins: refresh-packagekit ------->hangs at this point ^C ------->i press Ctrl+C to abort Exiting on user cancel i tried #yum clean all.....but still the problem persists....i use yum quite often to install,update and remove packages.....i would appreciate any help from you....thnx in advance (HowTos)

Hi

PackageKit is nor running from a termina, it responds with "Comand not found"

when trying to install it using yum, it returns the following

[root@localhost /]# yum install PackageKit Loaded plugins: langpacks, presto, refresh-packagekit Package PackageKit-0.8.7-1.fc18.x86_64 already installed and latest version Nothing to do

any suggestions?

hi friends ! I am newbie to fedora 16 . I used ubuntu before this jump. i have installed fedora just now . i need software packages which i used in ubuntu. to install vlc , i hit following command on terminal :

$ yum install vlc

a) how do i become root in fedora ?

I've made a clean install yesterday, for the first time restarted, everything went good and then after I updated packages and copied my old home directory to replace the new one, when I restarted it hung when it was booting. I tried reinstalling again and doing the same thing, but again same thing happened.

HI guys, I'm having problems with my system, haven't look at it for a long time.

I just want to install two packages in my Fedora 15 but I am getting some weird error.

I have installed Mate Desktop and it is an alternative desktop for me in Fedora 16.

Last week I tried to update some packages in yum and the update for all packages failed due to the failure of this package - pluma-1.4.0-0101 not being signed. It seems to be affecting multiple packages.

I have tried to install it separately and event to re-install it.

Hi.. I just did a fresh install of openSUSE 11.2 on my machine, which was previously running 11.2 on ext3.. I use KDE4, and all the packages are updated to the default repositories.
