I got windows xp and xubuntu 12.10, which are installed alongside on the harddrive and it uses the usual boot manager (GRUB) so I can choose which one to use. Then, I ran out of space disk in xubuntu and I believe that I literally have zero space. but after turning on computer again, xubuntu could not load and it gave a black screen saying 'checking battery state' and it lasted like forever.

With Lubuntu, you can use computers with even less memory.
I read the above as Xubuntu and Lubuntu both requiring a minimum of 5 GB free disk space.
Hello:
I'm trying to install 64 bit F17 on my laptop. I will eventually dual boot. I have Win 7 installed on a partition and have 220 GB of unallocated space outside of the NTFS partition.
During install, when I get to the part where it gives me options for the disk, I selected the use free space option and the custom config option. Neither one worked.
I bought a new laptop with no OS and decided to try to Linux (Ubuntu) for the first time in my life. It was a clean install, my laptop had no other OS present in it, not even DOS.
While installing, it asked for partitioning. Out of the 320GB of free space I created a new partition of 20 GB and installed Ubuntu in it.
After upgrading my Samsung S2 to Jellybean, I have, in my notifications, a "Storage space" warning that some system functions may not work properly.
Also, when I try to install any app, I get the error: "Out of space. Free up some space and try again", which gives me a link to Manage Applications.
I see the following error while trying run the command shown below. I read somewhere that my /boot partition is low on disk space. How can I increase the size of the /boot partition so I can install more software?
Hello,
I am new to Linux.
I was trying to install Fedora 15 on my existing Windows 7 PC. I still have over 50GB unallocated disk space, but the installation keep saying I don't have enough free space. The only option that works is the first one "Use All Space". The rest couldn't find any free disk space.
Any idea/help will be greatly appreciated.
I have installed Xubuntu on an oldish laptop with a fresh install of 11.10 (12.04 wouldn't install because of some kernel PAE conflict) and then upgrading immediately to 12.04.
But the wifi is not working.
