[xubuntu] Webcam Easycam USB 330K not working

http://ubuntuforums.org – HI, using Xubuntu 12.04.01 since a few weeks I hit now the point to activate my webcam within skype. Unfortunately the webcam is neither working within Skype or within Cheese. I only see a black frame with no content. I guess the webcam isn't detected as a video device at all. (side note - webcam is working within Windows XP - so the webcam isn't broken). The Webcam has the following details (generated with lsusb): ID 093a:2600 Pixart Imaging, Inc. Typhoon Easycam USB 330K (newer)/Typhoon Easycam USB 2.0 VGA 1.3M/Sansun SN-508 On the website http://mxhaard.free.fr/spca5xx.html I figured out (Hardware)

i want to use ffmpeg to store images taken by my usb-webcam on my ubuntu 11.10. lsusb says:

the camera works fine using cheese.

I have a Dell XPS M1530 that originally came with Ubuntu (back in 2006 or so). The Webcam has always worked out of the box in Cheese, Skype, etc. I don't use it regularly, but I had tested it before. I recently tried it after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04, and I'm getting a black screen in every application I try.

I have a Logitech C510 webcam connected to my desktop running 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10, but it doesn't seem to be working when I run Cheese and Skype. After doing some search, it seems this webcam should just work out of the box. However, Cheese and Skype don't seem to work with it.

Is it my imagination, or does KDE lack a native webcam application like Cheese?

Windows XP has something, and Gnome has Cheese but the only thing I've found is Kopete and Skype.

Skype doesn't recognize the webcam and when I try to set up the webcam in Kopete it locks the entire program and I have to force it to shutdown.

Hi,

I have an Asus N61J running Ubuntu 11.10.

My webcam used to work perfectly with Cheese and Skype but today it stopped working. (I did not install drivers manually for it).

Webcam stopped working in skype 2.2., it works in cheese, "system/preference/sound"(to turn on microphone) shows the webcam, skype "options/video devices" shows webcam- but 'test' just has a black screen. During calls, the other party sees my avatar image, I see incoming video. The blog/forum suggestions are mostly for Ubuntu 11 & 12.

Hello,I'm relatively new to Crunchbang and loving it. However, having one problem. I find I need Skype. I have installed the software. I have bought myself a webcam - Creative Chat HD720p. I run Chrunchbang in VirtualBox on a Windows host. I know that the webcam works on Windows.Skype does not detect any webcam. I have installed v4l libraries.

I got a laptop (core 2 duo, 2 GB ram) without a webcam and using Ubuntu v. 12.10 OS. As I wish to make skype video calls with my Family I wish to buy a webcam. My budget is low, so I can't spent a lot on it. As I haven't found any webcam suggestions for the Ubuntu 12.10 OS, but only for earlier OS versions, could you suggest me a webcam type(s) that I could use for skype v.
