I used to be able to record audio using my Turtle Beach X31's (gaming headset and mic) with a 1/8" female to 3/32" male adapter connected to my mic input port (pink) and use audacity to record my voice without and static at all.
Howdy folks
Any help with this problem would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Im currently trying to setup an maudio 2496 as a 2nd sound device in xubuntu 12.10 with ALSA (no pulseaudio).
I'm using Lubuntu 12.04 on an Eee-PC with HDA intel soundcard.
The microphone works perfect in WinXP (dualboot, same machine).
The crackling/static is present in Skype, Audacity.
And the volume is also very low, I have to boost the mic in PulseAudio Volume control to have a conversation on skype, but this also increases the volume of the static.
I have a thinkpad t410 with a combo headset/mic jack (just one for both) but can not seem to get ubuntu to use my headset microphone.
The internal microphone works fine..in fact, when I plug in my headset the audio comes through the headset but the microphone is actually the internal mic not the ones from the headset.
I have checked my sound preferences and only have one option of device to choo
My sound is crappy on my Ubuntu system.

Hello,
I've bought a tv a few days ago, tried to connect my laptop via hdmi cable to it - worked perfectly, I just had to choose right audio device output as hdmi and it worked with no issues.
So I've tried to connect my desktop computer to the tv using hdmi cable - video works with no issues, but there's no sound.
I have a different Conexant chipset (Conexant CX20590) and my microphone is also unusable due to noise. (It sounds like a jet engine as well as me or it sounds like nothing - can't get just me with no jet engine effect.) For input, I get three columns in alsamixer: Capture; Analog Mic Boost; Digital.
Hi everyone. When I record sound using microphone I get a strong background noise though I can record sound. How can I get rid of this noise?
Thanks in advance.
I have installed Ubuntu 9.04 on my Lenovo Y530 in a separate partition along with Vista.
Now the problem is that there is no sound if I am using Ubuntu, Vista is fine. I checked many websites but no solution helped.
