I am running Xubuntu 12.10 on a HP dv2000 laptop with no external monitor connected. I went into the display settings and unchecked use this monitor or something like that. As soon as I did that my screen went black. I'm assuming that it things that there is a second monitor and now the "second monitor" is the main display? How can I get my main screen back?
So, I'm using two monitors, one to run tests only (java unit tests) and the other for everything else.
Problem is, the tests constantly request keyboard focus since they open windows and thus I can't keep working on the main monitor (because I lose keyboard focus).
Is there any way I can stop the second monitor from getting the keyboard focus or at least make it not interfere with the main monit
Hi,
I just connected a second monitor to my laptop (Xubuntu 12.10). At first I got the second monitor as a blank screen (only the default background with no panels on it) and I could drag a window from one screen to the other.
Using Xubuntu 12.04.1 with the standard LightDM login screen, I'm offered the choice between two sessions at login. One is "Xubuntu session" and the other is "Xfce session" (I do not save sessions automatically at exit).
However I see almost no difference in operation or appearance between the two.
I have what is essentially a server that I have running in my living room that I do not want to attach a keyboard/mouse/monitor too. I do want to be able to VNC into it to perform some tasks. The problem is that it will not boot up correctly without a monitor attached.
I have a xubuntu 12.04 setup with NVIDIA GT610 proprietary driver, TV with HDMI and vga monitor.
it worked perfect with 11.10 and vlc 1.1.X with 60Hz on VGA and 50 Hz on TV.
Now with 12.04 and 2.0.3 vlc i can't have different refresh rates, video get totally messed up, tearing, jerky, out of lipsync.
I'm running Kubuntu 12.04 with the AMD proprietary video driver. I have a Radeon HD 6700 Series card with 3 monitors. One of the monitors is larger and physically placed in the middle. I want it to be the primary monitor.
However, dialogs and various notifications always come up on the left-most monitor. Even the KDM login appears on this monitor.
Hello all,
I have been tinkering with my Xubuntu install for a bit now trying to get my second monitor to act as an extended desktop, rather than a cloned desktop.
I have written a small script that uses xrandr to adjust the displays, and it works if I manually execute it after logging into Xubuntu, but I cannot seem to get it to run at login.
I tried putting the script in the Application Autos
