I installed Xubuntu 11.10 on an old Windows XP in a separate partition. Later, I realized that I should have installed Lubuntu 11.10. Is there an easy way I can delete Xubuntu and replace it with a clean install of Lubuntu without deleting the partition? If not, what's the best way to delete Xubuntu and start over?
Have been running Ubuntu on my desktop since 9.something... now on 11.04, but have not done any updates for a LONG time... I saw Unity and decided I wanted no part of that! I have a laptop that I installed Xubuntu 12.04 on, and like the Xubuntu MUCH better than Ubuntu... So, decided that I would put Xubuntu on the desktop.
I have on my computer WinXp and tried to install Lubuntu .
Now it says it is Ubuntu. I am trying next to install Xubuntu.
The present Ubuntu(Lubuntu) is defective but I can log into it.
When booting the computer and the BIOS-settings adjusted accordingly, the system however goes where I can choose either windows or Ubuntu.
Hi
I installed ubuntu yesterday on my old lappy with a bootable USB. I have tried Unity 2d and still it isnt coping well with it, so I have decided to try xubuntu instead.
Have downloaded xubuntu image and used the pendrive linux thing to create the bootable usb(i formated it too)
When I boot the USB, xubuntu comes up on the screen but will not either boot or install.
My laptop have windows and ubuntu 12.04 dual boot.
I try to install xubuntu to replace ubuntu. I go back and forth in the installation program try to decide what to do, then a error message show up something about unmount sba. I don't know what to do so I went to the menu and choose shutdown the computer.

I was trying to install Lubuntu from a CD which had the Lubuntu.iso burned to it.
It hung at the part where it creates the boot image/mbr?
Now my Windows OS boot sector is totally borked. Tried the Boot Repair CD (all options where tried). Tried an option in Test disk to repair boot sector, but no go. Can see Windows thru Super OS 11.
I have XP installed on an T42 laptop and xubuntu installed on an external usb hd partition. Grub for xubuntu is installed on the xubuntu partition. To boot xp, I start the computer and it boots xp through the regular windows process. To boot xubuntu, I start the computer, go into the boot device menu, select the external usb hd, and select xubuntu in the grub menu on the usb hd.
