In Xubuntu 12.10's Main Menu editor (alacarte 3.5.5-0ubuntu1.1) I don't get any drag and drop, and thus cannot move or copy menu items with the mouse.
Isn't this supposed to work?
I'm trying Fedora for the first time (well i had a peep a while back). I like this version of the desktop but one thing i can't find is a menu editor. In xubuntu it was called Main Menu in Settings... i think it was the app Alacarte.
I've removed Mutt and will replace it with Alpine. But Mutt has left it's icon in the menu.
I am having problems moving items around in alacarte using drag/drop. I can create menus and submenus. I can add application items. But moving items from one menu to another just isnt working. The item highlights when selected with the mouse but it will not drag anywhere.
'Alacarte' is filled with bugs and things which simply do not work. Try simply moving a menu item up or down and watch it disappear. Try finding a menu item in alacarte when it appears in the menu within a certain sub-menu and either does not appear in alacarte at all or appears beneath a different submenu. That's only the tip of the iceberg.
I used to be able to drag and drop selections from the Applications Menu when editing it. Now It seems I can not simply left click and drag to other sections. Is this feature disabled? Thank you for your help
I've installed Minecraft and used Alacarte to create a convenient main menu item for it, and when it wasn't apparent in the Alacarte interface, I created another, which seems to have caused there to be two icons for it when I search in the Activities pop-up search box(not sure of the proper term, as I only started using Fedora within 48 hours ago.)

I've been using alacarte (aka "Main Menu") with ubuntu for some time now, because i'm really, really, really not happy with using the Dash in unity. Using alacarte has, up to now, always worked fine with me.
