I have an Advent 4211 which I wish to overclock. However, to do this I would need the MSI Wind U100 BIOS. I am unsure how to go about doing this. I have been on the MSI website, and the tools seem to be for Windows? Even on Windows I wouldn't know how to this.
I have used Ubuntu for some years now and can do most general things in terminal, but may struggle with more complex projects.
I have been trying to upgrade the BIOS for my HP Envy laptop last weeks and I am not advancing. The task and concepts are too difficult for me and I have a hard time understanding articles related to this. I tried installing Freedos with VirtualBox, but then I read that for the bios upgrade it was a wrong approach to start with.
I have an Asus S400CA laptop and today, I upgraded the BIOS firmware from version 203 to 209 using the Asus Windows flash utility. Flashing was successful and even the verification was OK. So, I restarted the system and ... just a black screen shows up.
So far any time i call and ask wind customer service about when a software upgrade is due, i think they must hire idiots because i get the same response everytime ' so you want to upgrade your phone, me: no no no when is my s3 getting a new software upgrade? software you know. them can i put you oh hold and after 10 minutes were sorry we dont have that information.
MSI Wind U100+ with Ralink RT2700E on 12.04 32bit.
The problem was also present in 10.04 - but I was able to fix it by editing /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-rt2800.conf and adding
# This is to fix wifi on the MSI Wind with the Ralink RT2700E.
Hello,I'm using Crunchbang on my laptop and pc for some time now and it works great!Yesterday I installed it on my girlfriends netbook, a MSI Wind U100. Until yesterday she was using Ubuntu (LTS).I have 2 problems, the first one is that wifi isn't working. The internal wifi card was also not working in Ubuntu, but I fixed it with an USB wifi receiver.
