I've just installed OpenSUSE 11.2, and I've already come across problems. Could be KDE, I guess, because I'm able to switch to a console, but switching back gives me a frozen system which I have to to a hard shutdown with. On the other hand, I've got an ATI card, which could also be the problem.
I just booted into Karmic and all works fine, just that the resolution was 1024x768 (default should be 1440x900, and I use NVIDIA drivers)
Hi!
After upgrading to Precise Pangolin (12.04), I've been getting garbled text every now and again. Although it's not a serious problem, it's a tad annoying and slows down my work.
The problem only seems to occur with text in text editors, text in nautilus and in the terminal.
I have this old Compaq (Yes, before it was HP) just lying around and i decided to turn it unti a server. I downloaded the mini/netinstall iso (cd-drive is broken, can't boot from usb) and loaded that into RAM with UNetbootin. I installed it fine. Then after i rebooted into the installed system, everything was garbled. The computer has a Pentium III, 1.0GHz, graphics card unknown. As for the age?
I upgraded to version 9.10 from 8.10. With 8.10 everything was working fine. Here I had some mishaps with the wireless network but Chili555 was extremely helpful. Now onto my next problem. I can see almost everything on the screen, but when the computer comes from sleep, the initial display is all garbled. Also, the message that you get when connecting to a network is just a black rectangle.
Did a dvd/iso upgrade from F16 to F17 (thats a whole 'nother story). The Text/Display that is supposed to show up when Grub first boots is now just garbled - no readable text.
I do see a quick GRUB for about 1 second.
it is a dual boot with Win XP.
I just downloaded and burned this disc for 11.1 and burned it as instructed with Infrarecorder. It boots up to the selection screen aka (normal gnome, failsafe, floppy..) but if I go beyond this screen, my screen becomes a garbled mess, kind of like a burn in test in an old arcade game machine. I tried using 11.2 gnome and it wont install correctly either.
During the past 3 days I have experienced the following issue: when returning from sleep, I see an extremely garbled version of my desktop. The only thing that seems to help is a reboot.
My first guess is that this is related to the video card.
I am trying to delete a folder in my home directory; its name is completely garbled.
