[xubuntu] GParted says hard drive is "unallocated"

http://ubuntuforums.org – I'm attempting to back up the files on my hard drive, because my laptop seems to have crashed after a failed update, and only sent me to the recovery console. I'm on Xubuntu now, but the hard drive seems to be acting up.
