Ok, I installed Xubuntu 11.10 on my Toshiba Satalite C50 dual booted with windows 7. After that I eventually installed the KDE desktop and the Lubuntu Desktop after KDE. When I rebooted the boot screen said lubuntu instead of Xubuntu and the login screen is now the lubuntu login screen instead of the xubuntu one.
Here is my problem, I can't seen to get past the Lubuntu login screen.
I have a macbook air with intel graphics, yesterday I disabled the laptop screen while I used an external screen and today whenever I plug it in the laptop screen goes off and the external monitor does not come on.
Hi all
I wonder if someone can give me some tips please? I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 (64-bit). It was fine until a few days ago, when I decided to install updates (it'd been a couple of weeks since I last did). Everything worked that session, but on reboot now the system won't start.
It goes through boot-up normally, and I get the login screen as usual.
So, I installed the xubuntu-desktop package on my Lubuntu netbook, but when I went to login to a xubuntu session nothing happened. The screen simply went momentarily blank and then came up with the original login screen again.
I tried with xfce session and got the same result.
How can I set the location for the login screen with lightdm in a multi monitor setup.
If have two monitors (1920x1080) + (1920x1200) and currently after I boot the login is shown on the left (smaller) monitor.
Using Xubuntu 12.04.1 with the standard LightDM login screen, I'm offered the choice between two sessions at login. One is "Xubuntu session" and the other is "Xfce session" (I do not save sessions automatically at exit).
However I see almost no difference in operation or appearance between the two.
I'm running Xubuntu 12.04 64 bit edition. When I start up my computer the xubuntu splash screen shows up and then it goes into command line mode. I can still login by typing my username and password but I have to type startx to start up xfce. This does not happen all the time. How do I fix this?
I have Xubuntu 12.04 LTS installed and I'm having a few issues:
Let me start with the first. I was on the road, so to conserve power, I turned of the wireless card via the Network Connections manager, but the laptop anyways drained down the 0%.
So when I got to start it back up, I tried to turn on the wireless.
I have auto login enabled, and I just upgraded to 11.04. When I boot, I get a message saying that I don't have the hardware required to run Unity, so I should choose Ubuntu Classic at the login screen. The problem is that auto login bypasses the login screen, and I can't disable auto login via the normal route since I can't start xwindows.
