I have a script I found a while back to speed up installing Minecraft... for my kid... Anyway, I recently changed to Xubuntu and figured the same script would be ok, not taking into consideration the different desktop managers.
I installed crunchbang statler alpha2 on an older (B) computer and got it updated. I haven't used it much for a week or more because it is older and slower. I logged back in today and tried to update and kept getting errors on a couple of the repositories. Both of them had to do with en (english).
I know how to install GNOME 3 and KDE using apt-get.
But i want to know how to, only download, from synaptic package manager, these shells. When i search for kubuntu-desktop in synaptic then the download file shows nearly 4MB but i clearly remember the actual size was near >100 mb.
I am trying to download kcachegrind after a reinstallation of my OS. But I keep getting "dependency" failures. I have tried going through the Ubuntu software manager (which worked perfectly before...) and Synaptic. With synaptic, I got specific package failures and when I searched for the packages I got more package dependencies.
I have a ppa for dodge windows installed via synaptic. It's worked well until now.
I've got a shell script that backs up our svn repositories. I back them up by tar'ing them over to a NAS (a Drobo). The script takes care of mounting and unmounting the network share itself.
The script itself works fine when I run it directly, but when run via cron it appears to fail with a few CIFS-related errors appearing in the syslog.
hello,
just got karmic installed on my "new" laptop.
seems like the broadcom wireless card is not being recognized.
i found the following instructions on another (closed) thread.
1) Open Synaptic Pacakage Manager
2) Ensure 9.10 LiveCd is in CD drive
3) Settings > Repositories > Ubuntu Software
I'm using backTrack5R3. And I 've installed Synaptic as well as ubuntu Software center. Synaptic is very easy to use and gives wide range of details for the packages that I'm going to download. But the problem is it lack of lot of new files and information. Like vlc or adobe reader. The latest stable version of vlc is 2.0. but synaptic only installs, 1.1.
