I just installed a new Intel 330 60 GB SSD into my HP Mini 2140 laptop.
But it's not going as fast as expected and my hdparm results aren't looking very good compared to SSD benchmarks at:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/SSD_Benchmarking
My results and info are below.
hdparm results:
justin@justin-HP-2140:~$ sudo hdparm -Tt /dev/sda
/dev/sda:

Hi,
I have an HP proliant server where i have internal hard disks and also HP MSA external storage. The IO rate is very very slow on internal hard disks and also on MSA storage. Please se bellow output.
Code:
[root@dwdb01 ~]# hdparm -Tt /dev/cciss/c0d0p1
/dev/cciss/c0d0p1:
I am running a Debian 6.0.6 (before you ask). I have a regular desktop computer, nothing fancy... but when I copy a file using nautilus I am getting 10MB/s copy speed and the system is completely stuck!
I have two disks, SSD (Samsung 830 128GB) and normal HDD (WD 1TB) and Ubuntu 12.10 installed.AHCI set in the BIOS. I have a problem with extremly slow copying in all directions (Samsung->Samsung, WD->WD, WD->Samsung and Samsung->WD).
Recently my Debian Linux server has been experiencing slow web server response times.
Hello, I am a beginner and would like to improve my cpu performance. My netbook is very slow and I'm sure it shouldn't be this slow. Sometimes I can't see small videos and it takes forever to open firefox or a simple folder. I don't really think that ubuntu is the problem, but I don't know how to use it so I need some guidance from ubuntu users in order to diagnose and fix the problem.
I am currently performing various development tasks that are slow on my current system because of IO performance.
Is there a way to record disk operations while performing IO consuming tasks, including performance info (writes/second, reads/second, etc) and then replay them on a new system to see which would the performance be there (without having to re-run the same command over the same set of
I am running 12.10 on a Two year old Sony Vaio laptop (i7 with 8gb ram and ssd disk)
Overall performance nothing like as snappy as I would have expected. I am using the Nvidia proprietary driver.
I like the simplicity of Ubuntu. That being said I've always felt like trying arch. Also, I'm kind of broke right now and am using my netbook with an extra monitor as my one and only computer. I started out with xubuntu and added gnome shell to 12.04 and am really digging it. That being said I can't help but wonder how much performance boost I could get by building arch from ground up?
