Sony has completed the Sony Ericsson buyout, and with that, changes are coming to the new Sony Mobile Communications. For example, new devices like the Xperia Ion and the Xperia S, will no longer carry the Ericsson name. The Xperia S is not supposed to be available until sometime in March, but new unboxing videos, and a leaked promo video, have surfaced for those of you waiting.
Reuters has reported that Sony will be cutting roughly 1,000 jobs from its mobile phone unit, Sony Mobile.
With Sony’s first 4G phone being debuted at CES in the Xperia Z, they plan on releasing plenty more 4G this this upcoming year. John Featherstone, the head of Sony’s mobile business operations in Oceania reportedly said that “Around 8% of our phones for 2013 will be 4G…all of them around the mid- to top-tier devices.”

Sony Mobile has just announced a partnership with several phone case and accessory manufacturers with the focus being on providing quality protective wear options for their Xperia line of smartphones. CaseMate, Krusell and Muvit are among the several companies now working with Sony Mobile in this new joint venture. This is certainly not a bad move for Sony.

Sony on Wednesday launched the Xperia Tablet S at the IFA consumer electronics show in Germany. It's the second generation of the Tablet S, and it continues its predecessor's positioning as both a tablet and a universal remote control. However, the Xperia Tablet S is slimmer than its predecessor.
Chinese web site ePrice is reporting Sony will unveil the forthcoming Sony Xperia Z at CES 2013. The new Sony handset is quickly morphing into a device similar to LG’s Google Nexus 4 in that so many images and leaks are coming out, any official announcement is almost anti-climatic.
Recently, Sony came out with yet another Xperia smartphone - the sony xperia. This is a PlayStation certified device, which means that it has access to some PlayStation games. The smartphone has been projected as an entertainment device by Sony, emphasizing its music/video playback, faster processor and gaming capabilities.
The UK Product Manager for Sony Mobile, John Cooper, has recently been taking questions from their customers on Facebook. This has revealed that both the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S and Xperia Mini Pro will not be receiving the update to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
