He there I posted earlier about a resolution issue on my laptop, while I'm tinkering with that, I've tossed 11.2 on a desktop I've got laying around.
I've got a different issue with this one, so I figured I'd start i new thread.
Initially X does not use xorg.conf. So suppose I have a certain monitor installed with the system, then X will be set in accordance to that monitor.
If I change the monitor after a reboot, what problems will I face?...will X work properly? How does X handle this situation?
I have a xorg.conf that works in Ubuntu 9.10.
The xorg.conf adds a new modeline and setup dual monitors.
Recently, I tried Xubuntu 11.10, and sadly found that the same xorg.conf doesn't work anymore.
To be more precisely, I did see the wallpaper showed in the correct resolution in the beginning, but then my first monitor, Dell 2007FP, turned black.
I checked with xrandr -q, and found that the new
Hi,
I'm trying to set up dual Dell Ultrasharp u2311h (23 inch, 1920x1080) monitors with my ubuntu 12.04 partition. I'm running a Radeon 7970HD graphics card with the fglrx drivers (from the ati website), and for some reason my xorg.conf file keeps messing up. Every time I back up xorg.conf, delete it and reboot it seems to works fine.
okay i installed a fresh copy of ubuntu 12.10 but the problem is that it doesnt recognize my monitor which is LG E1942....
Last Saturday I undertook to install hardware sensor monitors on my family Ubuntu 9.10 machine which, incidentally, is built from legacy hardware (specs: Chaintech 7NJL6 mobo, AMD Sempron 2100+, GeForce 4 MX440 GPU, 512 Mb DDR RAM). I was running the proprietary Nvidia driver and max resolution was 800x600 at 60 Hz (monitor supports up to 1600x1200 at 75 Hz).
Hey guys i'm having a problem with my monitor.. I just installed ubuntu 11.10 and the monitor appears to be unknown with a resolution of 800x600.. When I install the discrete graphics card driver ATI the system reboots and now the monitor won't even turn up because of wrong refresh rates =\
My question is.. Is there a way to force a resolution without the xrandr commands?
Hi all,I am using a script found on this forum to switch between two xorg.conf to enable/disable the tv-out, it work like a charm however the resolution isn't working and the error about the resolution appear on the left of the screen.
Note: I'm posting this here because the system in question is currently running Lubuntu (for shame!) but mods feel free to move the thread if you prefer.I'm currently trying to configure my xorg.conf to letterbox screen resolutions smaller than the native resolution of my display (1680x1050) so that I can play older games full screen without distortion.
