Xorg cannot find screens with nvidia module

https://bbs.archlinux.org – My first suggestion is to backup your xorg.conf and use nvidia-xconfig to generate a new one, unless that is what you have done.The other probable issue may be that the nvidia driver cannot work on EFI/UEFI booting.  So if you use grub-efi, you may want to work your way over to grub-bios.  Otherwise, you will have to use the nouveau driver.  I do not have enough information on your setup, but that was my issue when I ran into this problem. mojojojo https://bbs.archlinux.org/profile.php?id=64364 2012-10-27T01:17:15Z (HowTos)

ok, stop!today either with nouveau or nvidia driver, xorg.conf.d/* isn't mandatory, so remove their (only the nouveau or nvidia ones)

Hello,I was using nouveau with xf86-video-nouveau for some time on my Laptop with GeForce 6150 and AMD Dualcore CPU.Now I wanted to switch back to nvidia or nvidia-ck-kx to be preciese since I'm using the CK Kernel. I have used the CKKernel with nvidia-ck driver before.So I installed nvidia-ck-kx and nvidia-utils to replace libgl with it.

It works!! alright it was a video driver problem, and for some reason I think there is a problem with the nouveau driver and the kernel. I read this thread, and I don't think the problem is fixed yet. I reloaded the nvidia-304xx driver and suspend and hibernate work fine.

Never mind, works well with nvidia 310.19-2 and xorg-server 1.13.0-4.

Really appreciate the help guys. Removing the nouveau driver and re configuring the nvidia driver fixed the issue. I'm marking it as solved.

I followed those instructions setting up my new laptop with Nvidia Optimus and never ran into an issue with anything ever wanting a nouveau driver. At any point in your installation do you install nouvea? You never need to do that as far as I know. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Since using the main kernel package (actually, linux 3.0.0 from Testing) and nvidia drivers (also from Testing) gave the same issues, I tried without Xorg.conf, and it turns out one of the nVidia-specific options was the culprit. Commenting it out fixed it.
