[xfce] Can't log into Ubuntu

http://ubuntuforums.org – I tried to start my computer with a USB hard drive already connected and on(I was going to back up files). This led to a number of problems. First on booting the computer the screen showed this message " The disk drive for /media/Data Copy is not ready yet or not present" then offered option S to Skip, M manual recovery or wait. I tried skip and it gave me the grub menu which is odd as my computer boots through GPT. I rebooted same message again pressed S and I got login screen. However when I enter my password it starts booting and then just goes back to login screen. I am only abl (Hardware)

Hi all I am not able to boot ubuntu i am facing four problems in serial please do help me to solve this i am stating each one below,

1) When I switch on my computer the ubuntu boots than at starting it says "the disk drive for /boot/uboot is not ready yet or not present" wait or press s to skip or m to add manually.

2)after pressing s than i go to login than once i login using my password than m

Ok, I guess I need help with this. I have a dual boot Vista/Ubuntu HP system. I decided to finally upgrade my 10.04 LTS to 12.04. All seemed to go well, but when I attempt a reboot, I get this message: "The disk drive for / is not ready yet or not present". Hit 'skip' and it then says "The disk drive to /tmp is not ready or not present".

Hey guys, I have a dual partitioned hard drive with win 7 and ubuntu 12.04. I am using an AMD Radeon 7850 graphics card and did not have trouble booting unbuntu until after I installed the latest update on from ubuntu on my computer. Now ubuntu starts out booting just fine but then the screen goes back and it enters the command screen.

My computer crashed earlier this evening, I think it was somewhat overheated and shut itself down. After this, I can no longer log into Ubuntu.

My computer was in "sleep" mode when I removed the hard drive for a quick inspection.

I sat the hard drive down and left for a few.

When I came back, I forgot I took the hard drive out and turned on the computer, bringing it from "sleep".

I got buffer errors and location errors.

I tried to put my computer back to sleep, but couldn't so I simply turned it off.

I recently did the update from 12.04 to 12.10 on my old Dell Latitude CPx laptop (Pentium III). When I rebooted I got this error message with no response from keyboard input. Below it is says

Wait to continue, press S to skip mounting, or M for manual recovery.

I also see occasional errors pop up on the screen from mountall and Plymouth. I can still get into Recovery Mode.

Hibernation option went missing 36 weeks 8 hours ago

In my Ubuntu 12.04, the hibernation option was working well and fine. However, I installed Debian on another partition recently and when I again tried to boot to Ubuntu, I got a message on the boot splash screen saying :

The disk drive for / is not ready yet or not present.

I downloaded a copy of fedora yesterday and stuck the disk in, i only booted it, something was wrong with the disk or something but i gave me an error everytime i clicked "install to hard drive" but anyways, so i took the disk out and booted back into vista, first off, it went to the screen saying vista needs to check for errors and couldn't fix the problem and shut down, then i started
