ubuntu wont boot up after I installed Windows 8. get this error
Windows Failed to start. "
A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
It seems that after I ran WUBI in Windows 8 that everything was correctly installed. The problem I have is when I re-boot, Windows loads some sort of boot manager that asks me what OS I want to boot from. When I select UBUNTU, I'm getting error messages. Here is what my screen says:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software issue is the cause.
i have tried several times to install ubuntu using wubi, i can't use a disc as i have a notebook computer and there is no optical drive.
the download and installation all seem to work well but whenever i try to boot ubuntu at the windows 7/ubuntu menu it comes up with this error screen.
I have used both the C: drive and the D: drive to install Ubuntu several times each, it's always unsuccessful.
Can I use a Windows 7 system restore disc and system image disc (of Windows drive C) to restore WUBI if my computer crashes? I use Deja Dup for backups, and have a CD of the WUBI .iso installation file?
I don't want to run Ubuntu in a separate partition because I find it convenient to run Ubuntu as a WUBI because I can use Windows drivers etc.
Thanks for any advice.
Hi,
I'm trying to dual boot ubuntu 12.10 alongside windows 8. I tried to use wubi windows installer to install ubuntu. Now when I restart my laptop it reports some problem with "File: \ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr". However i'm still able to login to windows 8 but not ubuntu.
Last week I purchased an ASUS laptop, with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I downloaded Ubuntu via wubi (from ubuntu.org).
When I turn on the laptop, I get the dual-boot options.
Hi,
I would like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer from Windows using Wubi, but I have a problem with it. Firstly I mount a CD image in a virtual drive via Daemon tool. Next I start Wubi, fill all installation fields, and then I click next. Then Wubi starts to extract files, etc.
I'm running Windows XP with all the latest patches.
I downloaded Wubi to my computer, installed it and ran wubi. Wubi downloaded the Ubuntu (I assume it was the 12.10 release) file and extracted the Ubuntu files. Next, it asked to restart the computer.
Hi. I've been trying to install Ubuntu via Wubi on my new Asus K55V laptop. The installation appears to complete fine without errors, but when I then reboot I get this boot screen error:
