I am a beginner for linux and have so many trouble installing ubuntu. Is there anyone can help me? I choose to install ubuntu alongside win 7. But the boot loader install has failed. When I restart, it shows :
GNU GRUB version 1.99-21ubuntu3.1
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions.
I just installed ubuntu today with WUBI. After installing, the first time I tried to boot it, it gave me this screen:
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported. For the first word, TAB lists possible command completions. Anywhere else TAB lists possible device or file completions.
GRUB>
I tried repeatedly to reboot, and no luck. What it wrong?
Thanks, JT
I dual boot Windows 7 and Ubuntu, though I use Ubuntu entirely for day-to-day computing. Today I had to switch back to Windows to find an old file, but when I tried to boot back into Ubuntu this odd thing appeared:
GNU GRUB version1.99-21ubuntu3
Minimal bash-like line editing is supported. For the first word,
TAB lists possible command completions.
I installed Ubuntu 12.04 with Wubi alongside (or is inside?) of Windows XP, and for the next few days I used Ubuntu only. This morning I felt like watching a movie on Netflix and booted up XP, CHDSK ran and began deleting files and I spotted "wubi" in there. I was curious and made sure that XP worked fine and then restarted.
I have Ubuntu 11/10 through Windows, by wubi. After some odd behaviours, (windows getting stuck in the main upper bar, and the like), and after a forced shut down because the system was stuck this time, I cannot open Ubuntu anymore.
Whenever i install Ubuntu 11.10 (64 bit) in Windows 7 (64 bit & i know my Dell Studio 1555 is an 64 bit computer) using wubi.exe after completion of installation i restart the computer to allow Ubuntu to complete the further installation but after restarting i get the following message.
"GNU GRUB version 1.99-12ubuntu5
Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.
GNU GRUB version 1.99-12ubuntu5

Previously I have dual boot of Windows XP and Fedora. I have deleted Fedora and extended C drive partition using mini tool partition wizard. Then I have restarted the system with Windows XP bootable CD.
