I have recently just downloaded ubuntu 11.10 and before i installed, wireless worked perfectly in windows. Now that i have downloaded and installed ubuntu, i know longer have windows. I do not have a wired connection at my house, only a mifi, so my computer is useless now without internet. I really like the functionality of ubuntu, but need internet.
I have an Acer emachines E725 and have installed Ubuntu 12.04 using wubi. Initially there was no wireless but I installed the "Additional Drivers" program and installed the Broadcom STA wireless driver.
When I install/enable the driver, the wireless device works well. But if I shut the computer down or restart it, it will deactivate automatically.
Since I do not have a computer of my own at the moment (using my family's computer) I do not have the ability to install Ubuntu on a hard disk so I'm planning on just running it from a USB for now. However, I cannot get wireless working on this USB (12.04.1).
I have a dell inspiron 1525 32bits with ubuntu 11.04 gnome 2.32.1, processor architecture i686 and upgraded the kernel from 2.6.38-8 to 2.6.39. Everything appears to be fine except that I no longer have wireless. I tried to install the driver with 'Additional Drivers' and I see that the Broadcom STA wireless driver is no activated.
My wireless basically just quit on me in v10.04. I saw there was a 10.10, so I downloaded it hoping that it would fix my problem.
I have a Dell inspiron 1564, the wireless is enabled according to the network manager, when I type "rfkill list" into terminal it says wireless is
hard blocked: no
soft blocked: yes
My wifi card is a broadcom BCM4312...
My laptop (Dell Inspiron 17R 5720) came with preinstalled Ubuntu 11.10. I removed it and installed 12.04. Now I can't find driver for wireless. Apparently, in 11.10 there was Broadcom-STA driver. But in 12.04 there is no additional drivers to install. I tried using:
sudo m-a a-i broadcom-sta
But building fails on 26%.
I recently installed 10.04 and everything Just Worked.
Before Lucid, I was using 9.04 and had successfully gotten my Broadcom 4306 working perfectly...
I need to get the wireless working on this HP dv9005us, I ran lspci and it says the card is "Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 1)" and so far I've tried the method that says "Installing drivers for the BCM4311,4312,4321,4322 Cards" on this page and in hardware drivers it says
Hi I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
