I've tried VMs and now Wubi, and whenever i use a VM to install, i get "must run in low graphics mode" with a black screen or it freezes afterward.
When I install on my real machine through wubi, I reboot into Ubuntu, and I get the following:

How to convert Wubi install into regular install?
I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS under Windows with WUBI.
Now my Windows XP started malfunctioning and I see this as the opportunity to leave windows and make Ubuntu as the only OS in my computer.
I could download Ubuntu and make a fresh installation.
I have installed Ubuntu using the Windows installer (on Windows XP), but when I reboot the computer I do not get the Ubuntu / Windows boot manager menu. It just goes straight into the normal Windows start up procedure. How can I get this menu and boot Ubuntu?
Any suggestions on how to fix this are appreciated.
i have tried several times to install ubuntu using wubi, i can't use a disc as i have a notebook computer and there is no optical drive.
the download and installation all seem to work well but whenever i try to boot ubuntu at the windows 7/ubuntu menu it comes up with this error screen.
I have used both the C: drive and the D: drive to install Ubuntu several times each, it's always unsuccessful.
I'm not technical. I installed ubuntu using your wubi installer. Pressed 'finish' to restart and the windows boot manager did NOT come up. It just rebooted in windows. How do I get to this windows boot manager so I can switch operating systems? Its XP bye the way. Help please.
I'll start from the beginning...
At first I installed ubuntu11.10 via wubi in windows and it failed. (See Here)
Then I tried installing 11.04, 10.10 and 10.04 with wubi again.
It seems that after I ran WUBI in Windows 8 that everything was correctly installed. The problem I have is when I re-boot, Windows loads some sort of boot manager that asks me what OS I want to boot from. When I select UBUNTU, I'm getting error messages. Here is what my screen says:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software issue is the cause.
I did a fresh installation of XP SP3 on an IBM ThinkPad T40, 512 MB of RAM, Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. I ran the wubi executable for 12.10 and let it download and unpack the image. When it said I needed to reboot the computer to complete the installation, I let Wubi restart it. During the reboot, it never came up to the boot menu and just booted into windows.
Hello everyone. New to the forum but not to Ubuntu (though still not an expert of course). I was having a little problem so I thought I'd ask for some help here.
I currently have Ubuntu 12.10 installed through Wubi, and I had just recently upgraded my Windows 7 installation to Windows 8.
