Ok, I don't completely know of all the specifications, but installing Ubuntu 12.04.1 on my cousin's old Windows XP computer, an old Compaq from around 2004.
After install via Wubi, and going through several unsuccessful install attempts, I finally get the start up screen of Ubuntu, and it freezes once you get to the pretty default wallpaper. Not even a login screen. Just instant freeze!
I'm having random freezing issues on my hp dm1z. I can't seem to narrow them down to any particular process, but they happen once or twice a day, which basically makes the OS unusable. Often, the freeze is so severe that magic REISUB doesn't work, and I have to do a hard reset. Does anyone have any advice for tracking down the cause of this problem, or even solving it?
Hello,
I'm at wit's end. My computer freezes very, very frequently. I'm using 12.04 (32bit, though my computer supports 64 bit, but I had freezes with that too), I've had the same trouble on 12.10. I've used kernels 3.2, 3.5 and 3.8, all still have freezing. I'm not sure how to identify the package causing the freezing, but if anyone has any idea, I will supply whatever info you need.
I have problems installing Ubuntu 11.10. I run installation from my USB and installing it alongside my Windows XP as dual boot.
When I work in vim, it happens (often) that it freezes for a second or two... after that it comes back to a normal life, executing all what I have typed when it was frozen
I saw this behavior on two different machines with Ubuntu, one after a fresh installation. No additional plugins nor fancy configuration.
Any idea?
I've a brand new i7-3770 with 8gb RAM machine with a fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04.
As soon as I finished installing I realized the system was freezing often.
After digging a little on some forumns, I switched to kernel 3.3.6-030306-generic (it was 3.2.0-23), which did reduced the frequency of freezes, but hasn't eliminated it.
BTW: I have a Windows 7 boot, and the machine runs very well o
I've recently installed Fedora 12, and it constantly freezes. The only common aspect between the freezes is that the freezes occurred when firefox was running. When it does freeze, I'm not able to use ctrl+alt+f[1...6] or even ctrl+alt+backspace. Has anyone else encountered and/or resolved this?
Hello!
I've installed Fedora 12 on my old box (motherboard Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3).
Everything worked perfect. Then I've upgraded my box with new motherboard - Gigabyte GA-EP43T-UD3L.
After this upgrade my box started freezing after some time (any input doesn't work, network services do not respond) only system reset helps until the next freeze.
