I am currently using 10.04 and I have set the power manager to hibernate when the battery is critically low. When I get the warning that my battery is critically low, it says that it will soon hibernate, but after about 10 seconds it just cuts out (not shutdown or anything else). Is there a way to change the critical level or is it some other issue?
Machine->
HP311 NetBook
Dual Booting Windows 7 and 12.04
Problem->
Under System Settings - Power, I have attempted to set:
When the lid is closed:
On Battery -> Hibernate
When Plugged in -> Suspend
Obviously, Hibernate wasn't available after install and I enabled it using instructions found on this forum.
However, when I do close the lid, the screen locks and fans/HDD still seem to be going.
I've add this following code to
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.desktop.pkla
[Enable hibernate by default]
Identity=unix-user:*
Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate
ResultActive=yes
When i choose to hibernate, the pc doesn't shutdown but i can see the text in the image in the link...
Help me please..I need to hibernate my computer..
Thanks
I have a ThinkPad X61 with Ubuntu 10.4 loaded. Everything runs fine except I now need to go long periods of time without power. The time is so long I need to change the battery. Unfortunately, I see the computer does not have the hibernate option, only suspend. Suspend mode requires a battery. I tried pm-hibernate. The screen just goes blank for a moment and then returns to normal.
Hi,
after installing 3.7.2-204 I no longer have mem in /sys/power/state. Thus my laptop does not hibernate after closing the lid. With 201 all was fine. That is, I still can hibernate with
echo mem >/sys/power/state or also systemctl hibernate?
Anybody else? Anybody knows the reason? I could not find anything
Klaus
Whenever I go into hibernate or suspend it doesn't seem to work.
Hey!
I am still on good ol' Jaunty with my Zepto 3215 laptop.
Recently I noticed, that power management fails to calculate remaining time on battery power correctly. Typically it will predict a remaining time which is between 50% or 70% longer than the actual time left.
This also means, that ubuntu fails to hibernate even when battery symbol shows 0% battery left.
Is it possible to put a Laptop in Hibernate or not, as on my 13.04 Pre-Release system the Hibernate option is in Power settings but it's grayed out?
Roland
Hi,
I have been running 11.1 on this laptop for a year and hibernate worked great on that. I recently installed (not upgraded) 11.2. now when i try to hibernate, i get the suse hibernate screen up, the progress bar counts down some (maybe about %20) and then it seems to hang. I have to power off and start back up.
