Hi,
I make effort to configure wireless connection to the internet on my Slackware box. I have a possibility to connect to internet with Linux (Slackware) but with usage of ethernet cable.
It seems that my wireless interface has name eth0 (iwconfig gives infos like unassociated, ESSID: (...), Nickname: (...), Mode: Managed; for eth1 it gives "no wireless extensions").
Guess this is not a new problem... I have been looking around on the net and tried a few things, none that really changed anything.
So I installed slackware 13 on my laptop. i am kind of newbeish, but i do know a little of linux.
the wpa_gui in kde 4.something says "could not get status from wpa_supplicant"
Ok, I'm running slackware 13.1 on an old Dell inspiron 6000 (dual booted with xp) xp can find the wireless card but slackware can't. If I do a ifconfig I can see eth0 and lo (the loopback) but nothing else (I think a wireless card should come up as wlan0...?). How can I switch it on?
Ok, so I've been researching this like all day because I can't figure out how to get my wireless working on Slackware (and that's the only way I can get internet on my laptop here).
So, when I run uname -a it tells me I am running kernel 2.6.29.6
I am new to Linux. I tried to install Slackware 14 on a fresh partition, with the rest of the HD as free space, except for the small "Dell" partition that seems to be necessary.
I got Slackware working more or less, but I couldn't figure out how to connect to the internet.
Hi Slackers,
I am going on a trip for work and it will be the first extended period of time away from the wife and young kids. I want to find an easy reliable method of video chat to keep in touch. There seem to be a lot of choices out there (see for instance the link below) but it's not clear which would work better/best on a slackware linux system.
I have a Compaq pessario CQ60, a wireless network, and a Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter and I cant get the wireless internet to connect. the wireless works fine on vista, and I got the internet working via cable, but I need to get it working wirelessly. I am a beginner to linux, but know a little ( nothing in terminal though).
