http://forums.fedoraforum.org – Hello, I have tried to do a thorough search through the forums but I couldn't find anything on this topic. I have a Thinkpad T61p laptop running Fedora 11 with the Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wireless card. Output from lspci -v: Code: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)         Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device 1010         Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 32         Memory at df2ff000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K]         Capabilities: <access denied>         Kernel driver in use: iwl3945         Kernel modules: iwl3945 From my reading, I have found out that this card supports wireless extensions with the driver that is currently packaged in Fedora 11 (iwl3945). Output from iwconfig: Code: $ iwconfig lo        no wireless extensions. eth0      no wireless extensions. pan0      no wireless extensions. wmaster0  no wireless extensions. wlan0    IEEE 802.11abg  ESSID:"ID"            Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.462 GHz  Access Point:           Bit Rate=54 Mb/s  Tx-Power=14 dBm            Retry min limit:7  RTS thr:off  Fragment thr:off           Power Management:off           Link Quality=68/70  Signal level=-42 dBm  Noise level=-127 dBm           Rx invalid nwid:0  Rx invalid crypt:0  Rx invalid frag:0           Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0  Missed beacon:0 When I try to use the command iwspy from the wireless extensions I get the following output: Code: $ iwspy wlan0 wlan0    Interface doesn't support wireless statistic collection But when I try to use the command iwlist which is also from the wireless extrensions it works: Code: iwlist wlan0 scanning wlan0    Scan completed :           Cell 01 - Address:                     Channel:1                     Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1)                     Quality=32/70  Signal level=-78 dBm                      Encryption key:off                     ESSID:"ssid_1"                     Bit Rates:5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s                               18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s                     Bit Rates:48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s                     Mode:Master                     Extra:tsf=00000458b49b2455                     Extra: Last beacon: 3610ms ago                     <omitted>           Cell 02 - Address:                     Channel:1                     Frequency:2.412 GHz (Channel 1)                     Quality=37/70  Signal level=-73 dBm                      Encryption key:off                     ESSID:"ssid_2"                     Bit Rates:5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s; 11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s                               18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s                     Bit Rates:48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s                     Mode:Master                     Extra:tsf=00000458b49c19e6                     Extra: Last beacon: 3615ms ago               <clipped> Does anyone know why iwspy doesn't work but iwlist does work?
