http://forums.fedoraforum.org – I need to get internet from the router to another room, about 30 ft away, and running a cable is a real pain. A wireless 5 port hub would be great. I also have a TMobile HotSpot router laying around which works if I run a cable to it - I kind of want to go the other direction - wan->router->wireless <------> wireless(tm hs)->ports. Google hasn't been a lot of help. Either a wireless extender or directions - thanks. (HowTos)

I am researching the best and cheapest Netgear Wireless Cable Modem Router for a family member. Than it struck me to ask here for others thoughts and experiences and what all of you thought was good.

I am trying to get it all in one but if there is a cheap alternative that has a separate cable modem and than a wireless router that would be just as good.

I have very little understanding (ok no technical ability so be gentle)

I just bought a TRENDNET TDM C4000 (=modem/ wiredrouter) and got it working. If I connect my computer with through the ethernet port directly, the internet will work. However, when I try connecting the ends of the ethernet cable on the modem and my wireless router, it's not transmitting. I know I set up the wireless router correctly because it worked with my previous modem.

have a DSL modem setup with 192.168.1.1 local IP. Everything working fine. Then have a linksys wireless router that I have connected to the DSL modem. I have enabled DHCP on the wireless router, and have assigned 192.168.107.1 IP address to this router, with 255.255.255.0 as the mask.

Hi guys.

I don't know much about wireless, so here is a question for you all.

I recently moved to a new place, which is cool. Unfortunately the modem sits in one end of the apartment and the office is at the opposite end, and routing an Ethernet cable is pretty tricky since I rent and can't really drill holes in the wall.

Maybe not a Ubuntu specific question, but I'm not sure.

I have a linksys wireless router (WRT160N). Connected wireless to the router is my laptop (running Ubuntu) and a wireless HP printer.

I'm prepared to set up a 2nd network using wireless router, to be connected to a wire modem which is supplied by ISP, There is already a wire router connected to the said modem, also supplied by ISP.

Internet connection 4MB/4MB DSL, up and down Static IP

One PC is located at about 2 feet from the wireless router, the former on table top and latter under table.

I have a broadcom wireless card in my laptop and the wireless is not working correctly. right in front of the router the wireless signal is 70% and across the room it barely works and in another room it disconnects. i have the drivers and everything. i am running ubuntu 11.10 64bit.it works perfectly in windows 7. can anyone help!
