For some reason, when I try to install the driver for my wireless card (and it matches the card, the driver is made by the same company that makes a specific driver for it), however, for some reason I get an error message when trying to install the driver.
I have installed 12.10 on HP ProBook 4740s but i cant get wireless (wifi) working. After booting to Ubuntu, wireless network is by default down and even when I switch it up, it is not visible in network options in top right corner. It is also not possile to connect from terminal, because no wireless networks are found. So it seems that wireless is somehow installed but probably not properly.
Hy guys, i have a problem with this wireless card drivers.
I use Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Wireless worked pretty well (except known disconnects caused by rt2800pci driver) until ubuntu updated last week.
After that, wireless dissapeared from Network Manager. I ran lsmod and i saw rt2800pci was not loaded anymore.
I have a Buffalo WLI-UC-G300N Wireless Lan Adapter that is not connecting to my wireless router. It sees all my neighbors' wireless networks in addition to my own. I have checked and double checked that I'm entering the wireless key correctly but it will not connect to my network.

I'm a beginner in linux and backtrack, i need for use it a wireless dongle and for the moment it's WND4100.
A customer sent me one of these still in the box, wanted Ubuntu. I use Ubuntu on plenty of devices and told her I wouldn't have a problem.
Over my head now!
Anyhow I loaded 12.04, no wireless or ethernet of course so I put a USB wireless on it just to do research and try to download some sort of driver.
I've been trying to get my wireless working for two weeks now. I have 1814:3290 wireless card. I am on Linux Mint 14 64-bit. I have tried all the suggestion on here:

I updated my kernel to 3.8.5-030805-generic.
So I am a total noob to linux in general, but somehow I seemed to get my ralink rt2860 wireless chipset working using the drivers from ralink's site. Unfortunaltely, I keep getting the error when updating or installing stuff "errors were encountered while processing: rt2860-dkms". Did I mess up when installing?
Hi
I am using Mythbuntu 10.10
I managed to configure my wireless N USB device using the RT2870 driver that comes with the system.
However, I could only connect at G speeds.
After searching this forum, I read that updating the driver with the current version from ralink would give me N speeds.
I followed the steps here:-

Now....
