After upgrading to 11.04, I have found that I can not select "Enable Wireless" because "wireless is disabled by hardware switch". There is a hardware switch for the wireless but playing with that seems to do nothing.
lspci says I have an Atheros Communications Inc.
I have a Clevo MobiNote W130EW notebook with Ubuntu 12.10 running on it. When I start the computer it shows the wireless as hardware bloked:
$ rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
Soft blocked: no
Hard blocked: yes
This is even though the actual physical switch is in the 'on' position. When I flip the physical switch to 'off' and then back; the wireless gets enabled.
Hey guys, i just started using Ubuntu 12.04LTS and i can't seem to solve my issue. I've been hovering around the forums for a while but none of the solutions i've seen have worked on mine.
I disabled bluetooth from bluetooth tray menu (unity), then bluetooth was disabled, and wireless disabled too. I can't enable bluetooth and wireless again. It said:
bluetooth is disabled by hardware switch
wireless is disabled by hardware switch
I checked BIOS, no bluetooth, wireless option.
FN+F2 doesn't work.
sudo rfkill unblock all doesn't work.
My Dell Mini 1018 used to work fine with Ubuntu 12.04 with no problems connecting with the wireless card. Then I made the big mistake of attempting to disable WiFi by right-clicking on the wireless applet and un-checking "Enable Wireless." Since then, I cannot get wireless working again.
I have recently purchased a Novatech nFinity N1410 laptop and am having problems with the wireless, which
sudo lshw -C network
tells me is Centrino Wireless-N 2230 and using the iwlwifi driver.
The problem is that after the device has been suspended, I am not able to get the wireless working again without a restart.
Kind of a weird intermittent problem. When I boot up my wireless is disabled according to the network manager. I have to disable my wireless using the switch on my laptop (dell latitude e6400), reboot, login and then enable the wireless using the switch on the laptop in order to get the wireless enabled again.
hi all..
I am kind of new to ubantu.
I have a toshiba l655d-s5145. There is no physical toggle for the wireless, although the f8 key is supposed to do the trick. It doesn't. The wireless has been working since October, and suddenly, nothing. RFKILL reports that the wireless is hard blocked, but unblock wifi, unblock 0, unblock all do nothing.
