I just did a fresh install of Fedora 17, and I it won't allow me to connect to my wired network? I don't have a wireless adapter, so getting the ethernet connection to work is a must. My network adapter is an Intel 82578DC Gigabit. I tried looking at the Intel site and downloaded the Linux* driver but it's a tar.gz file, which I can't get Fedora to install.

I am using Cups to print but the print quality is really bad when printing from my fedora machine. It prints normally on my windows7 laptop.
I've had this printer for a few years. I've used it on Slackware, Linux Mint, Puppy, and Lubuntu and have all worked fine. But for some reason it wont work right in Fedora 17 or 18. Ideas?
Hello everybody
I am having lots of problems with printing on my Fedora 17 x86_64 KDE install. It stated with me trying to set up a network samba printer. I got this:
Code:
There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'cups-authorization-canceled'.
I then upgraded cups to 1.6 instead of 1.5.
Now I get this weird module error:
Now the whole printer option dialogue doesn't work.
At first look, out of the box support for the wireless card looked great! It even worked with the live cd. The problem began after the installation was done.
I´m having problems setting up network printing in Fedora 16. In the printer setup box it says FirewallD is not running and gives a list of protocols that need to be enabled. I cannot find a FirewallD but have gone into Firewall and enabled the protocols. There is obviously something I´m missing.
The printer is a Canon MP970 and is connected to a Windows machine.
Hi everyone,
I upgraded my laptop from F17 to F18, a fresh install using the x86_64 DVD iso on a USB stick. This laptop has seen lots of Fedora releases already without real problems. But this time, I can't get a (wired of wireless) network connection.
I have several computers connected to a single network printer. I want to add a second profile for the network printer so that I can give it different printing properties (landscape vs portrait).
We are using Windows XP. The network printer has an address like:
\\SERVERCOMPUTER\Dell Laser Printer M! Dell Laser Printer M5200
How can I add a second printer profile or a network printer?
hi All,
I am pretty new to Fedora having used OS2/Ecom for many years.
Anyway I installed Fedora 17 over 15 and have now lost my net
connection. I get a message of Wired cable unplugged. I have backups
yet it will take a few hours to install the other software like XP and OS2
over as well.
I'm really confused with all the new printers setups available for Linux/Windows networks. I have my printer connected to my Linux desktop which is on the same network as all my Windows laptops and the laptops could print (via Samba) to the printer. All was working perfectly.
Then I upgraded from 8.10 to 9.04 then to 9.10. Now I cannot print or see my shares anymore.
