Wired connection quit working

http://crunchbanglinux.org – We had a power flicker in a storm the other night and my #! wired connection, through a router, quit working.  I have a wired network printer hooked up to the router and everyone on my network can see it.  The #! wireless connection works fine.  I've tried swapping patch cables and still have no connection.What else can I be missing?  I suppose the wired network port could be bad, but since it's on the Motherboard, I'd assume the whole MB would be toast?Anyway, thanks for any pointers.-H (HowTos)

To be brief, I am having intermittent connectivity issues with a wired connection to a WRT54G2 router. I have no such issues if I am plugged straight into the modem. My wireless persists throughout the outages and they usually require me to restart the interface on my machine.

I have used Wicd Network Manager and Ubuntu's out-of-the-box Network Manager.

Hi everyone,

I upgraded my laptop from F17 to F18, a fresh install using the x86_64 DVD iso on a USB stick. This laptop has seen lots of Fedora releases already without real problems. But this time, I can't get a (wired of wireless) network connection.

I just installed Kubuntu 12.04 on a new computer with an Asus motherboard containing onboard NIC. The onboard NIC is enabled in BIOS. I don't happen to have a spare network card to test with. The internet connection is via a D-Link router, either wired or wireless via T-Link USB wireless adapter. The internet connection works fine for other computers on the network (2 wired and 1 wireless).

I am having a problem connecting to wired connection from router. I used to have 11.10 where I tried to establish DSL connection. I tried it doing through the terminal using some pppoeconf commands.

When I reboot my system, under the Ubuntu loading sign, I saw messages like configuring network; wait 60 seconds more for connection, etc.

Then after 2-3 minutes, Ubuntu home screen appears.

I tried to install a recent kernal update that got hung up and wouldn't finish so I aborted the update. After that I could no longer use $sudo modprobe b43 to initiate my wireless connection. My strategy is to establish a wired connection, make sure all updates could be installed, and then try to establish the wireless connection again. However, I cannot establish a wired connection.

I'm on Ubuntu Maverick (10.10). I've read a few threads regarding wired connection problems, but haven't found a solution yet.

The problem appears after I connect to a wireless network. When I disconnect wireless and plug in an internet cable, the wired connection is not recognized at all.

In F16 I see this in networks:
