We have a small, relatively idle Windows Server 2008 R2 installation that does basic file sharing and hosts Exchange for about 10 not very active users.
When running a windows server backup, the daily incremental data is about 20GB. This is not coming from users shared files, nor from changes in their mailbox sizes.
Windows Small Business Server 2003 creates multiple backup files:
Small Business Server Backup(01).bkf 113GB
Small Business Server Backup(02).bkf 402GB
Small Business Server Backup(03).bkf 131GB
Small Business Server Backup(04).bkf 111GB
Small Business Server Backup(05).bkf 217GB
Are these backup files independent? So can I delete all but the most recent?
I'm looking for a highly reliable option to backup data(not the Bare Metal or System State but various shared folders) from a Windows Server 2008 R2 to another 2008 R2 server. Servers are located in two different locations.
We have a Windows Server Backup schedule that backs up our 'main' Windows 2008 server, which does our AD, Exchange, Domain controller, file hosting and a bunch of other stuff.
Now we want to offload this backup to an online location, because we don't want to have to keep taking the backup disk home with us, and it will allow for more frequent offsite backups.
The whole thing is just too big (350
I'm using Windows Server 2008, and have the requirement to backup system state and data to a remote location.
What's the best way to do this, unfortunately it appears Windows Server Backup doesn't allow this, and I'm not usually a fan of 3rd party backup software as if the need to restore it arises I'm of the opinion it's more difficult to restore.
Cheers.
I am testing 2008R2 file server, and part of it, is that I need to create backup of the file and folders in it (mainly dev GIT repository - changes daily)
I wanted to use Backup Services - however, when selecting to save to a remote folder (our backup server) there will only 1 version of the backup source kept
I don't feel comfortable with that.
I'm looking for a simple on-site (i.e.
On My server i have set local backup daily, weekly and monthly. last night some one deleted a account from server. now since the daily backup was takes yesterday night it does not had the data there. weekly backup is too old. what can be done to avoid this state i had similar issue before also.
i want to retain last 7 days data on server.
I recently put together a PowerShell Script on a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 that created a dated directory then started Windows Server Backup to make a system state backup.
