I have a server with 2 nics. I installed Hyper-v 2012 server (not windows server 2012, no gui) I am trying to set up load balancing. I have both nics in the same switch currently in trunk mode and no native vlan.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge 2900 with two broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II NICs running Windows Server 2008 R2. The two NICs are teamed using BACS4. The latest version of BACS4 is installed and the latest drivers for the NICs have been installed.
There are two VLANs on that team (created with BACS4).
I have a question about which license to purchase for a client setup that I am looking to implement.
The scenario is that I want a Windows Server 2012 on bare metal running Hyper-V, a Windows Server 2011 as the first VM running on it, and then 4 virtual Windows 7 Professional VM's for the clients to connect to.
So my question is, which version of Windows Server 2012 do I need for the Hyper-V set
I am running a domain controller, that also has a Hyper-V role installed.
Within the Hyper-V, I have a legacy Windows 2008 SBS that we will eventually retire.
When the guest OS is shutdown network traffic is normal.
When the guest OS is running, there is huge packet loss (around 50%, in bursts of 5 seconds on and off).
I am running Windows Server 2008 R2 fully patched, no antivirus, two NICs (
I have two servers in a datacenter, both running Windows Server 2008 R2. Both of these servers have 2 NICs. I am trying to setup one NIC to be used for public access and the other for a private network between the two servers (I have been assigned 2 private IP addresses by the datacenter).
I setup the first NIC (public) fine.
I have a pair of Dell PowerEdge R710 servers (2x Xeon X5690s, 64GB, 8x BCM5709C NICs) running Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter. They're backed by a Dell PowerVault MD3200 with 3.6TB in RAID 10 (effectively 1.8TB). These were setup in a Hyper-V Failover Cluster.
I'm rebuilding my cluster because of some issues that occured.
I run a Hyper-V server running several Hyper-V VMs. I was wondering if there is any way for me to manage
the Hyper-V server itself (just Hyper-V role, not the rest of the server box) and
the Hyper-V VMs (like connecting into them)
via Mac OS?
I'm on Mac OS 10.8 on my main laptop. From what I've been seeing the Hyper-V management tools are all Windows based.
Assume I installed Hyper-V Server 2012. Networking is working fine. The server is locked down, only RDP is enabled. Enabling other ports may not be an option as the server is directly connected to the internet. As I understood it, Hyper-V Server 2012 is simply Windows Server 2012 with the Hyper-V role installed. No other roles are available.
I'm trying to set up VDI across Windows Server 2012 VMs running on Hyper-V 2012.
The wizard's compatibility check for the Virtualization Host server failed with "Hardware-assisted virtualization is not present on the server".
I'm running an FX-8120 CPU and have the ASUS M5A97 motherboard.
