I had a CentOS home server, running Samba - which died after a local (but short) power outage. Unfortunately, I didn't run it on a UPS.

Now the CentOS box won't get on the network...

I elected to mount the hard drive in my Ubuntu desktop box, and copy off the contents... which brings me to my question.

Did you open the correct ports in the iptables firewall on the Linux machine? If you changed the host file entry on the Windows machine to point "centos-1" to a different IP address then ... [by TrevorH]

Hi guysI installed gvfs-smb to access samba shares in Nautilus. Now there is an icon in the "Browse Network" section of Nautilus called "Windows Network". This link works sporadically. Sometimes I open it and no workgroups are present. Sometimes I'll see a workgroup but no shares are available.
