Windows Mobile 7 is Zune, Mobile Xbox, and Phone in One Chic Package

Ho Ho what’s this?  A big push from Microsoft to bring Xbox LIVE based gaming to the mobile platform.  Unveiled at Gamescom comes information on how Xbox LIVE functionality under WIndows Phone 7, will move into the phone space.

Shoppers in the United States are increasingly going mobile in large numbers as they utilise the latest mobile technologies. These mobile consumers of goods and services – with the most connected and active of them now dubbed ‘mobile shopping warriors’ – will account for 28 percent of the $447 billion expected to be spent by American consumers in the coming holiday season.

Windows Phone 7, Microsoft’s big return to the smartphone stage after Windows Mobile’s gradual decline and demise, turns two today, according to a tweet by Joel Belfiore, Microsoft’s head of Windows Phone product definition and design.

Earlier, we reported about Microsoft’s official launch of its highly anticipated Windows Phone 7 Series. We were generally impressed with the new Zune interface that the overhaul has brought about in the OS.

Today at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, Microsoft has finally released its new operating system for mobile phones named as Windows Phone 7 Series. This is a very ambitious new product from Microsoft. The Windows Phone 7 Series is a brand new in every sense. Microsoft have done away with almost all that has been done with their previous mobile efforts.

eBay and PayPal continue to see record mobile sales during the holiday shopping season. Last week, the marketplace company released data that showed that non-holiday days were posting massive gains, with PayPal reporting that its total global mobile payment volume on Sunday, Dec. 2, exceeded that of Cyber Monday by more than $1 million.

Microsoft’s tight hardware spec for Windows Phone 7 smartphones means that Windows Mobile 6.x devices – including HTC’s just-launched HD2 – can’t be upgraded.
