I’m having several Windows Servers 2008 R2 which I previously accessed using Hyper-V Manager from Windows 7. On upgrading to Windows 8 and enabling the feature Hyper-V, this is no longer possible.
Hello,
I am running OpenSuse 11.2 64bit distro. I've successfully installed xen hypervisor using yast2 tool and then created (using yast2 as well) a new virtual machine with Windows 2008 R2 x64 as a guest (specyfing an .img file as CD/DVD Drive).
I'm setting up a test "server" on my laptop with Hyper-V. When I go to install from an MSDN ISO I have two choices for standard edition. SERVERSTANDARD or SERVERSTANDARDV.
Googling gives me lists of cracked windows keys, but one site claims that SERVERSTANDARDV is the non Hyper-V flavor. I assume that doesn't contain the Hyper-V server, but wold be safe for a Hyper-V client?
Specifically, I want to run this:

This download contains a three Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Hyper-V Virtual Machine set for evaluating and demonstrating Office 2010, SharePoint 2010 and Project Server 2010.

Supported operating systems: Windows Server 2008 R2

I often set up servers in Hyper V on my laptop (running windows server 2008) to test varoius software.
Is there a way in powershell to build an image in Hyper V and run windows update on that image? Does anyone have a script that they could share?
I have a question about which license to purchase for a client setup that I am looking to implement.
The scenario is that I want a Windows Server 2012 on bare metal running Hyper-V, a Windows Server 2011 as the first VM running on it, and then 4 virtual Windows 7 Professional VM's for the clients to connect to.
So my question is, which version of Windows Server 2012 do I need for the Hyper-V set
Let's just focus on Hyper-V on either 2008 R2 SP1, or Hyper-V on Server 2012. The guests are all modern versions of Windows themselves, either Windows 7 or 8, or 2008 R2 or Server 2012.
Do I really need to install the Hyper-V Integration Services on my guests? Everything seems to work just fine without them.
Below, we provide the download link for the HP Photosmart 2573 Driver. This is the driver version 080.001.237.000 for Windows Vista 32 or 64 bit. After download, you can directly run the setup.exe file included in the download link. Follow the installation wizard until finished. Your driver should be installed now.
Background:
We're running a couple of Virtual servers in Hyper-V at a small office using Windows 2008 R2.
We only have 1 physical host (and we aren't planning to change that any time soon). We're looking to move to Hyper-V Server 2012.
Currently we have a small UPS that keeps the server running for about 20 minutes and then sends a shutdown message to Windows 2008. The UPS Connects via USB.
