I have an old laptop(5+ years) running fedora 18, It has core2duo processor and I have recently replaced its battery.
With Windows battery life is about 3-3.5 hrs but with fedora 18 running gnome-shell it is hardly 2 hrs.
I will be getting a new laptop with AMD A10 processor, Richland architecture in about a week.
I own an Acer Aspire 5755G on Windows 7 x64 and I recently read that keeping your battery charged at 100% the whole time degrades battery life. The problem is, I always keep it in my laptop but never really use the Battery since the laptop (or should I say notebook) is rather big and I usually use it on my desk wit the power cord.
I am a college student and I use my laptop in lectures to take notes or (in the event of a boring lecture) work on assignments for other classes. With only vim and a web browser open, I still only get about 4 hours of battery life. What can I do to improve this? What do I need to know to buy a better battery for it?
The F17 installation on my laptop is causing my laptop to heat up a lot (even in idle condition)!:C
With more heating the CPU fan keeps on running continuously and when running on battery it runs out of battery in about an hour. In my Windows 7 partition I get a battery life of over 4 hrs!
Hi all, I have a problem with my laptop battery and ubuntu karmic, turns out battery life is VERY low, If I get an hour and a half of battery life Im lucky1!!! any help regarding this??? In windows I have like 5 hours or more so I guess its a configuration issue.
I installed Linux Mint 13 a couple of days ago on my HP Pavilion g7-1338dx laptop using the mint4win installer. On Windows 7, I can easily get 5.5 hours of battery life, but on Linux Mint, I get a whopping 2 hours! I have laptop mode and pm-powersave enabled. I can unplug the power cable and just watch the battery meter drop as Linux continues to chug down my battery like it's a soft drink.
I have my Asus U46e with an Intel coreI-5, 8GB ram running Ubuntu 12.04. Since installing I see that I am getting approximately 4 hours battery life and my brightness settings will not save. I was curious to find out whether I could extend the battery life on my laptop by tweaking the system.
I'm in the US and wondering about the battery life on this phone. I have a Nexus S and the screen-on time is pitiful. Unfortunately there don't seem to be many nicely laid out objective battery tests of the S like there are on anandtech.
Owners, can you post your battery lives WITH the exact screen-on time from the Battery Use view?
