I'm trying to set up alerts for low disk space conditions on a server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, SP1). To do this I want to trigger an email via Task Scheduler whenever Event ID 2013 is logged in the System event log.
The problem is that Event ID 2013 doesn't seem to be occurring.
I did an upgrade from Windows Server 2003 R2 to 2008. After quite some time (overnight) I was greeted with a Windows Server 2008 login box, I logged in and my services started successfully as did everything else, it even jumped straight on the network and had internet!
I am pretty new to Windows Server 2008. On two separate events it shut itself down without any good reason. I would like to diagnose this, but don't know where to start. Where and what should I look for in the Event Viewer, and what else can I do to fix this problem? Also, is there an auto shutdown and startup scheduler in Server 2008?
I am having a lot of people relentlessly trying to get into my dedicated server via rdp.
I have one ip that was hitting it for 3 hours straight about 5 times a second.
Is there a way to get a list of the ips from the event viewer of those who have failed logons easily?
I want to add these ips to my firewall to prevent further attempts.
Thanks!
I set up a Active Directory on a server machine with Windows Server 2012 and I'd like to create some users with limitations like Windows Steady State does in Windows XP (locally).
Seen already the Windows SteadyState Handbook (with Windows Server 2008), but I'd like to know if anyone has tried this before, the limitations are the following:
1.
My site exists in two servers.
a) a linux vps with: php (+pear) + mysql
b) a windows vps with: 32bit windows 2008 web edition + php where our apps run through a vb6 .dll
I want to migrate to a dedicated server and have found one that offers quite good hardware for the money.
Our existing print server for our 8 printers is a Win 2003 server that is slowly being decommissioned. We want to move print services off this server but we want to move them to the right place. I don't want to make the domain controller a print server, nor do I want to use any of the other existing Windows Server 2008 R2 application servers.
In Windows 2003 and 2008 we had Terminal Services Manager (see screenshot below). However in Windows server 2012 it's gone.
Does anyone know how to access the list of currently remotely logged on users in Windows 2012 through a similar tool or some other way?
(I tried connecting to Windows 2012 from Windows 2008, that's why you see "win2012" in the TSM groups list.

I have a Windows 2008 server that is just running a few apps and doesn't need a lot of attention. However, all I know how to do right now is remote desktop into it and check event logs, free disk space, backup logs, etc..
