After I installed updates today and restarted, the launcher icons reset to the default size. In the System Settings / Appearance, the slider to adjust the icon size is no longer there. At first I suspected it was using to Unity 2D, but I don't think it is. I log out and made sure Unity was selected, and if I set the launcher to auto hide, it becomes transparent before sliding away.
I have reopened the Unity launcher by disabling auto-hide, thanks to this post -- http://askubuntu.com/a/106673/42720
I am running 12.04 in VirtualBox, and have tested this in both full-screen and windowed mode. Moving the mouse to the left side, or top-left corner, of the Ubuntu desktop does not make the Unity launcher reappear.
How can I show Ubuntu Unity's Launcher panel through terminal?
I'm trying to bind a mouse button to this, showing the launcher. By "launcher" I mean the vertical panel with the "Home button". I would like to press this particular mouse button and it acts as if I had pressed the <Super> key; which is bound to show the launcher by default.
I've set xbindkeys properly already.
Hello,
When I add an extra screen and try to move the mouse between the two screens, the mouse cursor is blocked on the edge of the monitor and I have to move the mouse faster to reach the second monitor.
When I googled for this problem, the solution seemed to be the deactivation of the sticky edge option for monitors (Diplays settinngs).
I don't know the proper term is for the label that appears when the mouse cursor is left over one of the launcher items.
Despite unchecking g-c-c / Displays / "Sticky Edges", and disabling associated settings in ccsm, I feel like sometimes the mouse gets stuck in my second monitor for a really small time when I'm switching monitors back and forth rapidly.
I have the launcher enabled only in my primary one (left). The one on the right (secondary) has no launcher.
Can I disable the tooltip shown at the side of the Launcher icon when hovered by the mouse. These are nice, but I want to disable them, because when I press "Dash Home" button on the launcher, then want to write something on the dash, I can't see the letters because of the tooltip.
How can I disable the Unity tooltip? I am using Ubuntu 12.04. I have given a screenshot of the launcher.
Running 12.04 LTS. This is extremely annoying and makes me want to try another flavor of linux. Yes, this little inconvenience is THAT annoying to me. Most of the time the launcher will appear nice and easy as soon as I mouse over the upper left corner, but many times, the left edge of the screen will get a little darker, but the launcher will not appear.
So I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 and the main reason for coming back to this distribution was because there is now one click encryption during the installation process.
One of my gripes with Ubuntu has always been the Unity Toolbar/Launcher. Currently I have it hidden with the sensitivity turned all the way down. Even if I bring my mouse to the side of the screen it will not be displayed.
