I have a security advisor that is telling me that we can't use wildcard SSL certs for security reasons. To be clear I much prefer using single certs or multi-domain certs (SAN).
I know this kind of questions been asked here many times and I read through every single one of them and still do not understand how to do this at all.
I basically have a VPS server with a hosting account that has 1 dedicated IP.
I am currently running a postfix server with self signed certificates serving one mail domain, mycompany.com, the mail server is mail.mycompany.com and so is the CN of the certificate.
Now, I need to add a new domain to it. The new domain name is mycompany.net to the same server.
Since the users already have the root of the old certificate, I'd like to reuse that.
Hi.
Hi have a server with a main shared IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) and server.example.com as hostname (and all services like whm.example.com, cpanel.example.com, etc...)
I've created a cPanel account for example.com, and i can manage trough cPanel subdomains (like files.example.com, etc.). For this domain, i've bought a SSL Wildcard tha is working for all WHM services (Exim, FTP, cPanel, WHM...).
I have two domains and the one I am in has a certificate authority server. The domain I am not in doesn't have a CA server. I want to certify https on that server so that I can get there without the cert warnings.
What I did:
Created a CSR on the web server and generated a certificate on the CA. I then completed the CSR on the web server.
I am at a loss as to what else I might try in order to debug this issue with a Starfield Wildcard SSL Certificate.
Sorry, if this is very vendor specific but I purchased an inexpensive SSL Cert from GoDaddy. Right now everything on production is hosted off of www.domain.com. When specifying the common name would a wildcard (ie *.domain.com) cover the case of a lack of a third-level domain such as domain.com? Just to be sure, I made it for www.domain.com rather than a wildcard.
It's long, but please read carefully.
I am trying to install an SSL certificate on my dedicated server with WHM/cPanel.
I have a dedicated IP to use with the SSL certificate.
My main domain is example.com (NOT www.example.com), and I have an account and website already running on it.
I bought the certificate for the main domain (example.com without www.).
I installed the certificate (successf
