The GNOME Infrastructure had some unplanned downtime this morning (US Time) which took a number of hours to resolve. The majority of the downtime was after hours for most of the admins, and it required on-site access to the data center which also delayed the fix.
How To Easily Migrate A PostgreSQL Server With Minimal Downtime
I posted a previous question that did not get any satisfactory answers, so I'll generalize the question. At this point I'm willing to take any reasonable solution.
What I need: I have a remote server. It's not mission critical -- if a hard drive fails, I can accept a day or two of downtime.
Late last week the main GNOME database server suffered a major crash which resulted in extended downtime for major services such as bugzilla, blogs, and anything else requiring a MySQL backend. There was some data loss, but less than 24hrs worth. This means a few blog posts were lost, and some stats data.

We have an HP DL380 G5 server with two 72GB 15k SAS drives configured in RAID1. A couple weeks ago, the server reported a drive failure on Drive 1. We replaced the drive with a brand new HDD -- same spares number.

From Sep 12 to Sep 13 we will have a power outage in the Nuernberg office.
The forums and the community website were down yesterday. The downtime lasted for about a day.
After investigation, it turned out the motherboard on the server had to be replaced. I would like to give credit to our host, SevenL, for helping us in that matter.
Hello
This morning we encountered a failure in our Raid-5 array and the server won't boot. Our datacenter told us the array and the disks need to be replaced as they are damaged.
I'm looking for someone who can help me to get some backups out from this server.
