I am running 12.10 and the infamous rtl8723e - how ever I believe this is not driver related, once it's working it works fine with network-manager.
If I shut down with the rtl8723e (working or not) in ubuntu, there is no issue once I boot back up.
when i restart my Dell inspiron 5010 it do not detects the wifi drivers and the hotkey for turning the wifi card on is not working either. I am using proprietary drivers "Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA Wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source (proprietary)".
I need to click and apply "Do not Use the device" and then switch back to the proprietary driver.
I'm new to Linux and just installed Ubuntu last night as a dual boot with Windows 7. When I first installed it using USB the WiFi worked. Then I figured out how to use the Software Updater and updated it, downloading about 200 MB of updates.
Then the WiFi stopped working. For the record, I've seen numerous threads about this same topic and have tried basically everything they have said to try.

i jsut upgraded my laptop to ubuntu 11.10 so it installed all the latest drivers for everything and everything works beautifully except my WIFI...the latest driver for the broadcom dosent work with my wifi card i dont know why, so i have the old version of the broadcom driver deb file saved and i m trying to install it but it wont install it because the latest version is already the
New to Ubuntu.
During installation, the computer identified the wifi card and asked me to connect to the network. I did. After the first restart the wifi was working and I could see networks and connect to them. After the second restart the wireless has VANISHED. Still, the Broadcom STA drivers are enabled in system settings/additional drivers.
I have a Dell Vostro 1700 with the Broadcom BCM4312 card (obviously). Running 10.04.
Earlier today the wireless was working fine, then after a reboot, it stopped.

Ok, I'm about at the end of my rope. I've tried everything from reinstalling my system to using the 'Broadcom STA' in restricted drivers (both before and after re-installing everything) to the ndiswrapper based solution found here: WIFI fix
Help please. Put it on the computer ubuntu 11.10 64bit. Used the response in the topic WiFi does not work, Broadcom STA Wireless driver does not work on a BCM4313 but this does not help. Computer Lenovo z570, wifi card Broadcom Corporation BCM4313
When choosing Network Manager > Enable Wireless nothing happens. WiFi not enabling.
