Hi,
I just installed Fedora 17 on a HP dvt-7000 quad edition and much to my
surprise I found that wireless did not work.
The system uses the intel centrino 2230 wifi and the associated firmware
was not found when the system booted.
I went to http://intellinuxwireless.org/?p=iwlwifi&n=downloads
and downloaded the firmware for the wireless and copied it
to /lib/firmware and rebooted
At first I installed 32bit ubuntu 12.10 & struggled much setting the WiFi by help of so many answer here then I thought to install 64bit as my system is of 64bit. At the installation time itself I couldn't find any WiFi name listed & I connect through wire.
I have a Asus U52F-BBG6 running dual boot Backtrack 5 R1 and BlackBuntu 0.3 . My Issue is with my wireless card on BlackBuntu which is based off Ubuntu 10.10 which isn't supported anymore but my wireless card is a Intel Centrino Advanced-N + WIMAX 6250 but says disconnected on BlackBuntu 0.3 .
I've seen many posts/threads about Wifi issues with the EVO 4G LTE, but they all seem to fit in these categories:

Hi everyone im new too crunchbang, and I've been strugling to get internet via wifi.First I go into "edit connection" and I create a new wifi connection.
I have a new S3 and any time it sees a new wifi signal it asks if I want to configure a wifi hotspot.
It doesn't ask if I want to connect to a wifi network, but rather if I want to configure a wifi hotspot.
I have network notification unchecked in the advanced wifi settings so it should not notify me of new wifi hotspots and I have tethering off.

HiThis is not a question but a solution for others with same issue as me.I tried Chakra with livecd and installed to hdd too on my IBM R52 laptop, but the system not recognized my wifi automatically so I could not set my internet connection (however /lib/firmware folder contains ipw2200-bss.fw driver needed my wifi).Fortunately I found solution recognizing wifi on Arch wiki.
I am new to Ubuntu and I tried to install ubuntu server 12.04 on my laptop. now my problem is - I am unable to connect to the internet (I have wifi ONLY connection). ubuntu didn't recognize my built-in wifi on my Toshiba Satellite L505.
