http://crunchbanglinux.org – what the heck are the benefits of PULSEAUDIO, besides often creating stuttering output ?isn't ALSA all we need ? and what is OSS good for ?and why on earth do we have 7 trillions of volume level sliders within linux ?why is there not a simple >ONE< place to go for volume settings and sound devices ?and while we're at it, why is there no clean definition in naming applications accordingly ?Xfce volume daemon - refers to sound settingsXfce volstatus - refers to data storage volumes    <=   i spare to comment on that naming conventionsorry, this had to be ad (HowTos)

Hello folks.  I've been trying to use my f9 and f10 keys to lower and raise my volume.  I have xfce4-volumed and gstreamer0.10-alsa installed.  What else could I be missing?  Do I need to add the entire xfce package?Thanks in advance.Dave

Fedora 12 32-bit Mobo - Asus M4A78T-E (on-board sound card) Gnome desktop

No sound after login. No sound on playing Youtube

This is a completely new PC, just finishing installation.

I have a problem with my sound card that is not detected. Until today it was detected, but now it suddenly dissapeared. i can detect it usind the lswh command but in my bottom left icon it shows Dummy Output.

Hello,

I run F12. Since some days my laptop has become very sluggish. In Mozilla, switching between the tabs takes like seconds instead of fraction of a second. Also minimizing and mximizing windows takes long. Switching between the windows too takes long. Now I can't see the cursor while typing this post.
